In 2008, Universidad Europea de Madrid obtained approval to implement its new curriculum for a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering.

This degree is fully adapted to the requirements of the European Higher Education Area. Universidad Europea de Madrid began teaching this degree program during the 2008-2009 academic year.

For the upcoming academic year, UEM will, in addition, offer an Adaptation Year so that graduates in 3-year Bachelor’s Degrees and Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Engineering and Bachelor’s Degrees in Telecommunications Engineering specializing in Telematics who received degrees under previous curriculums are able to obtain the new Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering.

The adaptation year for a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering is geared towards

Graduates in a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Engineering Technology
Graduates in Bachelor’s Degrees in Telecommunications Engineering specializing in Telematics

with at least 9 months of work experience by July 2011, allowing them to obtain the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering under a 100% online or semi campus-based format, following a schedule compatible with their working hours.

Adaptable to Personal UEM: 100% online or semi campus-based study options

Personal UEM is a new educational concept at Universidad Europea de Madrid based on 3 fundamental values: flexibility to choose, personalization of programs, and interaction between the student and the academic and professional community through innovative technological tools.

It is especially designed for professionals who need to balance working hours and studies, allowing them the freedom to choose the option of studying their courses online or on campus as well as the possibility of setting their own study hours, program length and enrollment dates.

Students who study a program adapted to the methodology of Personal UEM will have an innovative Virtual Campus and the most advanced technological tools at their disposal, including: virtual classrooms, master classes, online library services, etc. They will also study using multimedia materials such as simulators, videos and 3D presentations, some of which will be accessible via mobile devices.

Adaptation Year for the Degree in Computer Engineering for Holders of 3-year Bachelor's Degrees and Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Engineering Technology
Graduates in any 3-year Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Engineering will typically require between 30 and 60 ECTS credits to obtain the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering.

1. Normally, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Management Engineering Technology (3 years) must take the following courses (1)
- Managerial Skills for Engineers (6 ECTS)
- Internet Programming (6 ECTS)
- Artificial Intelligence (6 ECTS)
- Systems Programming (6 ECTS)
- Professional Ethics and Practice (6 ECTS)
- Graduation Project (2) (18 ECTS)
2. Normally, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems Engineering Technology (3 years) must take the following courses (1)
- Managerial Skills for Engineers (6 ECTS)
- Artificial Intelligence (6 ECTS)
- Project Planning and Management (6 ECTS)
- Professional Ethics and Practice (6 ECTS)
- Graduation Project (2) (18 ECTS)
Courses are taught so that students may start studying at different times throughout the year.

(*) Validations = credit recognition in the new European Higher Education Area.

(1) The validation (*) of courses will be considered on a personal and case-by-case basis depending on a candidate’s Résumé. Pursuant to Royal Decree 861/2010, published in the Spanish Government Official Bulletin on July 3, 2010, a maximum of 36 ECTS credits may be recognized based on proven professional experience in the courses to be studied. Depending on required elective options, the free elective subjects chosen and proven professional experience, additional courses may or may not be required. The university reserves the right to offer these or other courses depending on demand.

(2) Pursuant to Royal Decree 861/2010, published in the Spanish Government Official Bulletin on July 3, 2010, Graduation Projects cannot be validated (*)

The University reserves the right to open or not open groups depending on whether or not there are a sufficient number of students enrolled in the course.

Adaptation Year for the Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering specializing in Telematics
Normally, graduates in the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering specializing in Telematics must take the following courses (1)
- Managerial Skills for Engineers (6 ECTS)
- User Interface (6 ECTS)
- Internet Programming (6 ECTS)
- Artificial Intelligence (6 ECTS)
- Formal Languages and Compilers (6 ECTS)
- Systems Programming (6 ECTS)
- Concurrent and Real-time Programming (6 ECTS)
- Graduation Project (2) (18 ECTS)
The remaining subjects may be validated (*) without the need for enrollment or payment. Courses are taught so that students can start whenever a new course commences, making it possible to start studying at different times throughout the year.

(*) Validations = credit recognition under the new European Higher Education Area.

Course Formats and Schedules
Universidad Europea de Madrid allows you to choose the option that best suits your needs, since this degree program is offered in two formats

1. 100% online format option

2. Semi campus-based format (3) combining online study and campus-based classes on weekends, Fridays from 5:00pm to 9:40pm and Saturdays from 8:30am to 4:10pm (occasionally lasting until 6:30pm certain weekends).
- The semi campus-based format (3) will involve 24 hours of campus-based classes per course (6 ECTS credits) distributed over weekends.
Campus-based teaching ensures an optimal level of learning, and the development of skills and professional competencies in addition to maximizing the commitment of the students to achieving their studies.

Depending on the number of courses that each student has validated (*), the number of weekends and the number of hours per week of the program may vary.

However, the semi campus-based format (3) is expected to last a maximum of 16 weekends and the campus-based part of the degree program will be taught at the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus
- This course will be taught from October 2010 to July 2011.
(3) In keeping with Universidad Europea de Madrid’s standards of rigor and quality, and in compliance with established and current legislation, the campus-based tuition at our facilities has to be compatible with the current online teaching methodologies that complement the educational objectives and the acquisition of specific technical skills. We are backed by our eight years of teaching experience using this study option, which is compatible with working hours for a number of degree programs.
