What does the European Higher Education Area mean for you?
1. A new methodology focused on the student
Desde la consideración del alumno como centro del proceso de aprendizaje y no la materia a impartir, se produce un cambio en el modelo de enseñanza pasando al uso de:
- Active methodologies aimed at learning that will enable students to put everything they learn into practice. The use of real case studies, collaboration projects, the online campus and other innovative methodologies are the norm in an environment where the traditional classroom lecture is the exception.
- A continuous assessment system in which more emphasis is placed on all the activity and work produced by the student throughout the year than on the traditional final exam. Class attendance is therefore absolutely essential because exams will be removed entirely from certain subjects and the final grade will be based on coursework.
- Small groups. The classes for undertaking practical work, problem solving, seminars, group work, class presentations and other activities will require small groups of between 25 and 30 students for teaching to become practical. This number of students will be lower still during the practical work undertaken in the laboratories specific to each course.
2. Increased mobility options
Student and degree mobility becomes much easier with the ECTS due to the fact that these credits, which are transparent and easily understood within the framework of all European university systems, will be freely recognized and transferred among all countries within the EHEA, currently 46 member states.
In order for all our students to gain an international vision of their profession, the Universidad Europea de Madrid provides the chance to study and complete internships abroad, to acquire double degrees at numerous universities around the world, to benefit from an Erasmus grant and to study partly or entirely in the English language.
Upon completion of their studies, students will be issued a European Diploma Supplement that will explain their skills to any future employer or European university.
Progressing from secondary education to university studies can generate some difficult decisions when choosing a degree and your future profession. Therefore, the first two years of the new curricula include certain basic subjects, cross-disciplinary oral and written communication skills and languages. Should you decide to switch to a different degree within the same field, all successfully completed subjects will be automatically recognized by the new degree course.
3. Training in harmony with the professional world
The new European Higher Education Area highlights the need to bridge the gap between universities and both social and professional demands in an ever-increasingly global society. Faced with this reality, the Universidad Europea de Madrid offers the following to its students:
- Curricula that have been designed according to the reality of the professional world, including supervised internships that students must complete in companies and institutions of recognized prestige at both a domestic and international level.
- A faculty of professionals and experts that will train and guide students according to the current demands of their sector.
- Practical Training. The theoretical knowledge acquired during the training stage only gains true value when successfully put into practice. Therefore, the Universidad Europea de Madrid is equipped with specific installations and the latest resources for each one of the various degree courses. The practical training provided also covers one other important aspect of all our degree programs: the completion of compulsory internships in companies.
- Skills training. The education model of the Universidad Europea de Madrid is firmly committed to the comprehensive training of students, complementing their technical training with the acquisition and development of both personal and professional skills that will enable them to compete in the labor market under the optimum conditions.
Part of the selection and entry procedure to the Universidad Europea de Madrid will consist of an individualized study of the background of each student, which will lead to the design of a Personalized Learning Plan for the development of those requirements and skills highlighted by their entry profile.
