Social Responsibility
Universidad Europea de Madrid fulfills its social responsibility through its comprehensive training of students, which constitutes a fundamental pillar of its educational model of excellence.
The university aims not only to train professionals for the labor market but also to develop responsible behavior and commitment by students with respect to their environment in hopes that they will incorporate such attitudes and practices into their professional and personal lives.
Respect for the environment, professional ethics, awareness of human rights, commitment to fight for social justice and the understanding that diversity (cultural, generational, gender, disability, etc.) is of great value in society are all values that our graduates can acquire, thanks to a profound awareness of the world around us that the UEM experience instills in them.
UEM transmits these values, and it also sets an example as an environmentally and socially aware company.
Our Objectives:
Universidad Europea de Madrid’s objectives in the area of social and environmental responsibility are ambitious and come from profound convictions regarding our role as a university and a company:

- To guide all members of the university community towards constructive and responsible behavior vis-à-vis society and the environment.
- To promote the participation of the entire university community in a range of social and environmental activities.
- To promote the responsible use of resources and the social commitment of all departments and schools within the university.
- To implement a range of social and environmental activities within the scope of our business management model.

Universidad Europea de Madrid is aware of the need to actively work for the protection and care of the environment in which one lives and works. Through our environmental management system, we constantly strive to improve our energy efficiency and the effective use of the resources of our facilities.
Starting in 2010, we will publish a Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which will encourage dialogue with interest groups and hence promote the transparency of our management in the eyes of our students, employees, providers, other universities, etc.
The publication of this report reaffirms our public commitment to our stakeholders to meet the demands of the market, to promote external and in-house confidence in our organization and to integrate CSR into our management practices.
We support research on topics related to social responsibility within the university’s departments and schools by groups such as MATICES (Models for the Application of Information Technology Against Social Exclusion), which is based at the School of Engineering. We also support the corporate social responsibility research carried out at the School of Business and Law.
Universidad Europea de Madrid, in its continuous effort to enrich the knowledge and skills of its students and graduates, has founded a corporate/social entrepreneurs club. This club seeks to develop abilities, provide opportunities, open doors as well as to give advice and guidance to young people who have ideas that they would like to develop.
Also each year we organize the Young Social Entrepreneurs competition in order to foster social initiatives by young people both within and outside UEM.
