Universia, 20 Spanish universities and the best businesses in the country have come together to create the Mobility Consortium
Universidad Europea de Madrid
The Consortium will grant 162 transfer grants distributed equally among the 20 universities that together form this project, which will correspond to €360 in aid per student per month.
Universia, the largest higher education cooperative network, comprised of 1,126 universities in 18 countries from the Iberian Peninsula to Latin America, has recently presented the Mobility Consortium featuring the collaboration of 20 Spanish universities and the most important businesses in the country, including Banco Santander, Vodafone, and Deloitte, among others.
The object of this initiative is to create a focal point between universities, businesses and students to expedite the availability of international internships for those young people daunted by the prospect of studying abroad.
In total, the Consortium is planning to offer 162 transfer grants to be equally distributed among the 20 universities that make up this project, which corresponds to €360 in aid per month. The grants will last between three and eight months, and the program will conclude on the 30th of September, 2010.
As part of the development of this project, Universia has set up a website: www.practicaerasmus.es, which is designed to serve as a tool for putting businesses, international internships and students together. Businesses can announce their internships and job offers and interested students can sign up for the available offers and participate in the selection process at the same time.
Based on a commitment to internationalization, Universia offers university students the opportunity to join the Universia Employment Network. As Jose Manuel Mateu de Ros, sales and marketing manager for Universia put it, “Employment for university students is one of the principal pillars sustaining the work of Universia.”
Moreover, sometime soon in the coming year, the Autonomous Organism for European Educational Programs (OAPEE) is planning to launch its web portal “Yo soy Erasmus” (I am Erasmus), where the star of the show will be the Erasmus student and the website will focus on his or her experiences. This portal will serve as a means to join together past, present and future Erasmus students in the same forum.
