Students majoring in nursing at UEM Valencia to intern at manises hospital

Some 40 students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the affiliated institution of UEM Valencia will complete their internships at Manises

The agreement, which was officially signed today, also includes internships for students studying Physical Therapy

UEM Affiliated Institution Valencia has just signed an agreement with the Hospital of Manises providing for students studying in the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at UEM Valencia to carry out an internship at this hospital center in the province of Valencia.

A total of 40 students enrolled in first and second year studies in Nursing at UEM Valencia will carry out their internships in the Hospitalization department, as well as in other health centres located in and around metropolitan Valencia. The training periods are scheduled to last for one month and the first group will start to work at the Manises hospital this coming February.

Thus, the agreement takes effect as of this academic year and has been scheduled to last for three years with the proviso that it can be extended. Although in this first course all of the students are from the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, students majoring in Physical Therapy will also be able to carry out their internships at the Manises Hospital.

The signing of the agreement, which was handled by Sergio Fernández, the Dean of the UEM Affiliated Institution, featured the participation of the Dean of the UEM School of Health Sciences, Elena Gazapo, together with the Academic Manager of the Nursing Area, Epifanio Fernández, and the Academic Manager of the Physical Therapy Area, Jesús Sanz, all of whom were accompanied by Carmen Jiménez the Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, UEM Affiliated Institution, Valencia. Manises Hospital was represented by their CEO, Juan Lis and by their On-Site Director, Ignacio López.

During the official signing ceremony, the Dean of the School of Health Sciences UEM emphasized the importance of this agreement for the students in that “The students will be, not only developing their practical knowledge, but they will also be experiencing situations that will lead to personal growth, an education that comes from the human experiences they will share by coming into contact with patients.”

Likewise, Gazapo made clear her intention to see that the agreement be “fruitful” for both institutions, as the CEO thanked the Dean for the confidence placed in Manises Hospital.
