In order to configure access to the University’s wireless network through your laptop, you simply need to do the following:

  • 1. Install the aforesaid network card in your system with the correct drivers, so that it is recognised by the system.
  • 2. Then, you have to enter the name of the University network (wireless-uem) in the "Network" (or “Red”) field, or "SSID" (which is the same thing), which must be in the Network Properties of your card (in Control Panel/Network Connections, clicking with the right hand button on the wireless card connection, select Properties in the General tab, select Configure and go to the Advanced tab).

If you use the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, you have to configure it within the system itself. Therefore:

  • 1. Go to Control Panel/Network Connections, clicking with the right hand button on the wireless card connection.
  • 2. Select Properties, click on the Wireless Networks tab, select Advanced and in Network name (SSID) you write wireless-uem.
