Disability

Universidad Europea de Madrid strives for diversity, with the objective of guaranteeing equality of opportunity to those with specific needs derived from any type of disability.

In keeping with the responsibility of society to adapt to human diversity, the Disability Unit provides the university community with a support system for students with physical and/or sensory disabilities.

UEM makes the following services available:

  • Personal and permanent support from a student companion, both in the classroom with classmates and professors as well as for the purposes of adapting to physical surroundings and to different university services, as well as for emotional support
  • Information access. Unlimited internet access from any location to the content of the Online Campus classes in which a student has enrolled.
  • Professional guidance. Support in the search for internships and employment and assessment of personal abilities, by means of a collaboration agreement with Fundación Manpower.
  • Resource bank for technical support. Within the framework of a specific program from Fundación Universia and through other specialized consulting institutions such as Fundación Once.
  • Training professors for diversity. We train our professors to deal with disabilities that may exist in the classroom.
  • Evaluation of the needs for curriculum adaptation. The educational team evaluates the possible special needs associated with student disabilities in order to provide them with an adapted curriculum.
  • Awareness activities. We organize workshops and activities to make students and the rest of the university community aware of the world of the disabled.
  • Emotional support provided by the Disability Unit, should the need arise.
  • Progressive elimination of architectural barriers: we work to make our campus accessible to individuals with all types of disabilities.
